Care Certificate Standards Update - Spring 2025
Skills for Care released a new set of updates to the standards, including the addition of the New 16th Standard.
The Care Certificate outlines key standards that all health and social care workers must follow to ensure they begin their roles with a consistent level of knowledge and practical skills.
It is intended for non-regulated care workers, as regulated professionals, such as nurses, doctors, and social workers, receive similar training through formal qualifications.
The certificate reassures both employers and people receiving care that staff have undergone thorough, standardised training, promoting high-quality care across the sector.
The Care Certificate comprises 16 essential standards (Following March 2025 Update), developed by Skills for Care, Health Education England and Skills for Health. These standards form a comprehensive induction for those new to the care sector.
The standards address key components of health and social care, focusing on safe and effective practices. The integration of theoretical knowledge, practical skills and workplace assessments ensures that care workers are thoroughly prepared for their duties.
